Reconnect for Joy and Fulfillment

Reconnect for Joy and Fulfillment

Stressed from the holidays?  Desire to be “better” in the New Year, with all the energy and confidence you need to live life joyfully?  Imagine waking up every morning clearly knowing who you are, what you want, and your Purpose.  How different would your life be?  Wouldn’t you love to feel more connected and experience more joy and fulfillment?

It is possible to reconnect for joy and fulfillment.

Reconnect for Joy and Fulfillment - Follow your inner compassIt’s in your design, complete with a built-in compass to help you.  Remember in my last article (Your Vital, Valuable Resource for Handling Holiday Stress Gracefully) I mentioned the Innate Wisdom Centers guiding you?  These areas of your body are that “compass”, your most reliable resource for navigating your soul’s journey.  When they’re healthy, aligned, working in harmony, and you’re tuned in to them, you have a calmer, more fulfilling and enjoyable life.

What I share here is adapted from my article “Reconnect for Joyful Fulfillment”, originally published in Luminous Wisdom Sophia, January 2018.

Your compass signals you (with gut feelings, tugs at your heart, urges to move, etc.), guiding you to be safe, comfortable, happy, and fulfilled throughout your day.  Through conditioning and/or trauma, you may be disconnected from your compass.  Thus, you miss its signals.

You can reconnect to your compass, and align your Wisdom Centers.

A great place to begin is with your feet and legs.  As your foundational Wisdom Center, they connect you to source energy, ground, so that all of “you” manifests on earth, feeling connected, safe, “at home”.  Stressed? Overwhelmed? Grounding helps you feel calm, de-stressed, and secure so you trust, thrive, and create.  It enables you to feel what you need to in your body without feeling overwhelmed.  Struggling with decisions, uncertainty?  Go for a walk to literally clear your head.  Walking actually gets the two hemispheres of your brain talking to each other to sort, and make sense of, information.

Well-grounded and balanced people exhibit confidence and self-assurance across a variety of situations.  They think clearly, and are present.  Grounding and centering are key in helping them handle what life throws their way from a place of feeling safe, secure, and at home in their body.  And, others often look to them in times of crisis, when support and/or clear thinking is needed, and when a sense of security and stability is sought.   They have the foundation for building a happy, joyful, fulfilling life.

Ready for some tips to re-connect and feel grounded?

Bare feet are best.  Outside’s ideal, if possible.  Close your eyes to minimize distractions.  First, notice how you feel overall, without judgement.  Be curious.  Feel the ground, or floor, with your feet.  Really focus on what you feel with your toes, arches, heels.  Be curious.  How do your feet feel?  How do your legs feel?  As you breathe deeply in through your nose, imagine drawing life-sustaining energy up from the earth through your feet and legs.  Feel that energy filling every part of you.  As you exhale out through your mouth, imagine the air moving down your body, out through your feet, into the earth below.  Notice your feet becoming one with the earth, sending roots deeply into the earth.  Repeat that several times, allowing those roots to grow stronger and deeper.

Reconnect for joy and fulfillment - grounding through your feet and legs

Allow your eyes to open slowly, and return your awareness to the room.  To deepen your experience, take a nice leisurely, intentional walk in nature.  Ask your feet and legs what they need.  What do they have to tell you about what you need at this time?  Just ask, and notice.  Trust your instincts.  Be open minded, and open hearted with yourself.

Now how do you feel?

Are you ready for the next steps to reconnect for more joy and fulfillment?

Are you ready to reconnect to, and align, your other centers to manifest a joyful fulfilling life?  Stay grounded and tune in again next month when I share more.

Stay grounded to re-connect for joy and fulfillment

Why Wanting More Isn't A Bad Thing

Why Wanting More Isn’t a Bad Thing

Wondering why wanting more isn’t a bad thing?

When it comes from the heart, from the longings of your Soul, wanting more isn’t “materialistic” or selfish.   Wanting more isn’t a bad thing in that case.

Why do I say that? It’s the natural order of the Universe to change, and expand.  Expansion is more isn’t it?  You are part of the natural world, the Universe, aren’t you?  Didn’t you grow and expand physically from your start?  Haven’t you grown personally?  To do that, didn’t some part of you desire “more” or “different”?

Have you not tried new things?  New places to live?  New clothes and shoes?  Haven’t your social circles changed over the years?  Aren’t these all some variation of “wanting more?”

Haven’t you been hungry, or thirsty, resulting in you taking in more food and drink?  Haven’t you inhaled more air with every breath you’ve taken?  Even these basic needs for survival are dependent upon some want, or need, for “more”.

A Closer Look at Why Wanting More Isn’t a Bad Thing…..

When you commonly think of “wanting more” as a bad thing, what are you really thinking?  Does it seem selfish?  Undeserved?  Materialistic?

What are you really thinking when you think of someone as “too materialistic”?  Are you perhaps really thinking they don’t value life, or people, or other “higher values’?

Aren’t these all beliefs that you hold?  How did you come to believe these things?

When we want some “thing”, or some “experience”, in reality we are looking for the feeling “it” will give us.  Those feelings are often a sense of safety, security, confidence, pride, success, accomplishment, and/or happiness.

wanting more isn't a bad thingAnd, the truth is, we are capable of having those feelings without the “things” and “experiences” we often accumulate to achieve those feelings.  Of course, most of us haven’t mastered the ability to survive without the basics of food, drink, air, and protective clothing and shelter, etc., but, otherwise, we can achieve the feelings without the “things”.   Have you ever done that little experiment where you close your eyes and imagine biting into a lemon?  You’ve convinced yourself you are having an experience which is all imaginary.  Your mind is very powerful, isn’t it?

What Happened?

wanting more isn't a bad thingSome part of you has come to believe you need to have “things” and “experiences” to feel those feelings you crave.  That mis-guided belief has you pursuing them, and attaching further beliefs to the idea of having things and experiences.  And, that also causes you problems.

You have natural urges and longings related to your survival, as well as related to your Purpose.  Your Soul conveys its Purpose-ful intentions to you through your inspirations, and your gut feelings that those inspirations are yours to follow.  Those inspirations manifest as a desire to create what you don’t have, to do what you haven’t done.  A type of “more”……

But, because of your conditioning and beliefs, you lost sight of those inspirations, and healthy desires for “more”.  You forgot how, or learned not to feel good about yourself very early on.  You lost your sense of peace and contentment, of feeling and being “enough”.  All of which came from within you across all situations.  And, you began to look outside yourself for “more”.

Wouldn’t it Be Nice…..?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have those good feelings with us whenever we want, wherever we want?  You know, not attached to anyone, or anything. But, to have them naturally, effortlessly?  To feel we are enough, we have enough, yet be curious about what else is possible?  Across all situations. Wouldn’t that be a more peaceful, sustainable feeling?

The art of happiness and fulfillment balances the ability to “BE enough” with the desire to explore that comes from your Highest Self, from within your heart.  Guiding you to not only survive, but to thrive and enjoy life living to your fullest potential. On-Purpose.

Be Free to BE You, and Have More Money and Abundance….

To do that freely, you have to free yourself from those blocks to having more money and abundance to that you are open to “more”.   Money is the means we use to acquire much of what we want and need.  Having it is essential to life, a part of life.  How much you have is up to you.  Now, do you have a better sense of why wanting more isn’t a bad thing?

Time to resolve your blocks to having more money and abundance?  Click here to reserve your spot (deadline Jan. 3 11:59 pm) in my fr*e upcoming group coaching call.

Talk to you soon!

Your Answers Are Within

Your Answers Are Within

Did you know your answers are within you for all of your health challenges, stressors, and even knowing what’s next for you?  Yes, your answers ARE within.

Whispering to You Through Your Heart, Your Soul is Telling You Your Answers Are Within.

Looking to feel better, experience improved health, find your next steps?  Want to the satisfaction and fulfillment of knowing and living YOUR purpose? Your body is guiding you to follow the path that’s best for you.  Your heart knows your Purpose.  And, your Soul’s whispering through your heart all you need to know to be all you’re designed to be.  You first need to know and trust that, then learn how to listen and follow along.

Centuries ago, the “church” decided that the more esoteric matters of the mind, heart, emotions, and spirit was its domain.  The medical community decided the physical body was its domain.  That was the beginning of separation of “church and state”.  Perhaps that’s what lead to a tendency to look for our answers and solutions outside ourselves.

Sure, you must consult with professionals at times because they have necessary skills and knowledge you don’t.  And, that knowledge will enhance your understanding and decision-making.  But they don’t have ALL of the information.   Only you have lived your life, in your shoes, with your experiences.  You’re the only one who truly knows what’s going on inside your mind, your heart, your Highest self.

Ultimately, only you can make the best decisions for yourself, and manage your thoughts to keep aligned with your design, your Purpose, what IS best for you.  And, when you stray from that, your system will respond in kind with symptoms of stress and dis-ease.

I’m honored to share with you the second in my 12 article series with the newly published international online magazine, Luminous Wisdom – Sophia “Follow Your Heart, Your Purpose: Your Answers Are Within”.  Please share your comments below – would love to hear from you!

Embracing Change while Handling the Fear and Guilt

Embracing change isn’t always easy, but the right perspective can make it worth it in the end.  It will help you become the best version of YOU.  It’s time!

In my last article, I suggested Spring cleaning your life for more energy, joy, clarity and peace. Part of your Spring cleaning likely involves answering the call we all are receiving, i.e., to BE who we are YOU-niquely designed to BE – for the good of the Whole.  Even if you don’t recognize it as such, the TRUE longings in your heart are telling you, “BE YOU!” Always.

Embracing change of that nature can surely stir up resistance, masquerading as guilt and fear. Which can stop you dead in your tracks unless you are prepared to handle them.  I will share with you below how to make it easier.

It’s not always easy letting go and embracing change.

Change can be especially difficult when we are anchored by deeply ingrained habits and “belief baggage” with strong emotional ties.  Your “belief baggage” is especially difficult because it’s a part of your identity, a form of intellectual property, and your familiar home.  In other words, it’s your center and ground, your comfort zone.  Instinctively we protect what is “ours”, and our “home”.  All normal.

And, all holding you back if you aren’t willing to face it head on, feel the fear, and do it anyway.

You aren’t only changing a mental construct, you’re changing your programming, i.e. the wiring in your nervous system.  You’re opening to new ways.

Letting go and embracing change takes time, courage, persistence, and patience.

(It’s also helpful to have a support system, and a plan to help you navigate the journey.  Just sayin’. You know, like your life coach can do with you…).

Letting go and embracing change

What’s stressing you?

Think about the changes that, deep down, you’d really like to make.  The ones that you dismiss, or ignore, but which resurface repeatedly.  You know the ones I mean….

The changes that, if made, would ultimately land you in the most amazing place in your life.  That amazing place for which you are YOU-niquely designed to be.

What’s continually stressing you that needs to go (or needs a belief “re-vamp”)?  A relationship?  A job? A commitment?  Something else?

Which habits could use a little variety, or even hit the highway?

What’s missing that’s waiting for you to open the door and welcome it in?

Let yourself really feel into what it would be like if there were no limits, no excuses.   IF ANYTHING, and EVERYTHING were possible.  How would that feel to have your life EXACTLY as your heart longs for it to be?

How would your body feel?

I invite you to ask yourself, “What’s holding me back?”

And let the answer come through your heart, your gut, from your Higher Self.

Note how you may be limiting yourself with beliefs of impossibility, lack of worth, lack of self esteem,  “should’s”, and “musts”.

Be willing to admit what you’re afraid of.

How much of any of those limits is REALLY true?  Seriously.

Embracing change to be the best version of you...

Sometimes there’s guilt involved. Which is really fear in disguise.

And, you may not even know what you’re guilty about.  Regardless, its your beliefs at work.  Again, knowing yourself and drilling down are key.

Here are some questions to ask yourself to help you in that process:

  • Are you afraid of hurting someone by saying “no”?  Have you thought of how you might actually empower them to handle something themselves if you say “no”?
  • Is it REALLY true that you don’t deserve improvement?  Do you deserve to take your next breath or even eat when hungry? Aren’t those improvements of a sort? Where’s it fair to draw the line regarding what improvement you DO deserve?
  • Who’s suffering if you “improve”?  Might they benefit, learn, grow, or even become empowered if you improve?
  • Who are you dishonoring or disappointing by making a change?  Are you living YOUR life, or theirs? Aren’t they responsible for their own reactions?
  • What are you really afraid of?   Keep digging.  You answers ARE there.

If someone REALLY loves you unconditionally, they want what’s best for you, and what makes your heart sing.  And, that’s a two-way street, right?

None of us can decide what’s truly best for another.  We only know for certain what is going on inside of US, and what’s best for us.

It’s your birthright to become the best version of you.  It is your Purpose, and your destiny, to be the best YOU, and make your difference in the world.

And, everything you need to do that IS within you.   You will see it, feel it, know it if you look past the fear, and the guilt.

Bottom line…

Which is worse/more stressful?  Changing, or tolerating the way things are now?

Change isn’t necessarily all butterflies and roses.  But, personally, I prefer the stress associated with personal growth and improvement to that from tolerating something that isn’t a good fit for me.  It has a different quality to it. HOPE, ENTHUSIASM, OPTIMISM are mixed in.  That’s better than despair, pessimism, anger, and resentment-  in my book.

And, I also know that I have to be ready, which includes having a plan and support in place…..  Otherwise, the stress WILL be worse – because the anger, resentment, pessimism, and despair will creep into my “new” path to test my resolve as well…..

Spring Cleaning Your Life for More Clarity, Energy, Joy, and Peace

Spring Cleaning Your Life for More Clarity, Energy, Joy, and Peace

Spring cleaning your life inside and out can give you more clarity, energy, joy, and peace.  Have you ever thought about it that way?

When in sync with spring, you naturally feel restless and you want change.  You want to eliminate what’s in the way, no longer serves you, and/or is cluttering your space.  You want a fresh start, to feel alive, and to welcome “the new”.

Those impulses apply to your life, not just your material world.  The same way cleaning your home, office, car, etc. helps you feel refreshed and rejuvenated, with space for “the new”, cleaning your life can bring you new clarity, energy, and peace.

What does Spring cleaning your life mean?

Eliminating the “obsolete, detrimental, old, toxic, and/or outdated” ways of thinking, doing, and BEING.

You know…. the things that zap your energy, distract you from what’s important, keep you in unhealthy patterns, and keep you stressed.

Spring cleaning your life frees you

How do you know where to start?

Knowing yourself is key.  Be clear about, and honor, your values and Soul’s intentions.  Taking a good, honest, unfiltered look at yourself and your life and drilling down to the core will help you discover what you need to see, know, and do.

Your heart is your source of power and motivation.  It’s the seat of your Soul.  It embodies your Soul’s intentions, values, desires, and Purpose.  Listen to your heart, and then allow your intellect to serve your highest good in bringing what’s in your heart to Life.

Some questions to ask yourself when spring cleaning your life:

Trust your first instincts, your first response, then go deeper.  There’s no “right or wrong”, just your answers ….. for YOUR clarity and guidance…..

Spring cleaning your life for change for the betterIs stress interfering with my quality of life?

What are my biggest “button pushers”?

What nags me most frequently?

Where in my life are my values lacking?

Am I aligned with my Soul’s Intentions?

What do I want to improve?

Am I willing to improve it?

Can I improve it?

How can I begin NOW to be a better version of myself?

What do I commit to changing?

Follow the steps in letting go…..

  1. Identify the need to change
  2. WANT to change
  3. Decide to change
  4. Make the plan – baby doable steps with support
  5. Follow the plan – to DO and BE different
  6. Actually LIVE it – be kind, patient, and consistent with yourself over time to develop new habits
  7. BE the new change – rewired by living it long enough that it IS you. For now.  Until you hit #1 again…

The litmus test:

Do your current life, your current ways, your current possessions embody your values?

Do they support you in realizing your Soul’s Intentions?

Decide what you are ready, willing and able to let go of as you begin Spring cleaning your life.  What’s keeping you from the clarity, energy, joy, and peace you want?

Think about what you are ready to incorporate in your “cleaner” life as well that can bring you more clarity, energy, joy, and peace.

Is it time for more FUN!!! ?

I know its time for me to include more FUN!!! in my life.  I have been getting rid of some of the “old” to make room for more “FUN!!!”.

And, isn’t change is always easier, and more FUN!!!, when you don’t go it alone?

I find it is. So, I am creating a new opportunity as my gift to you.  AND, you have the chance to participate in creating that opportunity with me.

It will be a program to help us get out of our own way, and create a plan for FUN!!!, and have mutual support to keep us on track, ending this Mother’s Day.  A gift to the parts of ourselves that give to, support, and care for others.

If you would like to include more FUN in your life, and are interested in learning more, possibly creating and participating in this with me, click here to receive more information.     This time-sensitive opportunity ends April 7.   Click here now to learn more.

You shouldn't lose weight

Why You Shouldn’t Lose Weight

I often have requests for help with weight loss.  The first thing that comes to mind when I hear that is: “you shouldn’t lose weight”.

Why you shouldn’t lose weight….

Did you know your non-conscious mind automatically takes action to help you find something you lost?   So, if you lose weight, your non-conscious mind will naturally try to help you find it and get it back……. Hence, you shouldn’t “lose” weight.

And, when focusing on weight loss, where’s your focus?  On the excess weight?  We know from the Law of Attraction, you get more of what you are focused on….  excess weight.

You shouldn't lose weightAdditionally, deciding to “lose weight” can set you up for feeling guilty and upset with yourself, especially if your head is in charge. You may have an ideal diet, size and weight in mind.  All numbers, and very heady.  And, if your head is in charge, you may be setting yourself up for failure because you are missing the underlying issues.  Your heart is what really provides the momentum to carry you to your destination. Your head should follow your heart’s lead for optimal success.

When your head’s in charge, you’re likely relying on willpower to get your through.  “Willpower” is really just saying “no”. “NO” doesn’t work well.  Why not set yourself up to succeed from the beginning by creating the right environment, and having the right internal momentum to maintain your progress and deal with guilt that arises?

Your heart needs to be in it, and your mind needs to be open….

Powerful invitation: adjust your thinking.

Consider “releasing” weight, i.e., that which no longer serves you, vs. “losing” weight that your non-conscious will then try to help you recover.  Let it go to where it best serves, wherever that may be, which is beyond you.

Focus on what you REALLY want, and you will have more success.  What you REALLY want IS NOT a certain weight, or a certain size, or even a certain look.  Nope.  Your motivators for any change are the feelings you will have when you acquire or achieve those “externals”.  Feelings come from the heart, not the head…..  Transformational coaching 101.  Just sayin’.

You should aim for balance, you shouldn't lose weight

Your weight’s a result of many complex interrelated factors.

It’s important to get to all of the underlying issues to achieve your ideal healthy weight.  Genetics, physiology, diet, lifestyle, emotional factors, other health issues, medications, etc. are some of the factors that play a part.

If your weight’s an issue for you, I invite you to expand your perspective.  Assess yourself and your life holistically. What is out of balance?  Commit to restoring balance, and your health as a result.  Your weight will follow.

You shouldn’t lose weight.  Aim for balance in your life for optimal health.

If you wish to begin addressing your weight by focusing on your food intake, check out: “Put Your Best Fork Forward”.  Or, “Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right”.

Your answers ARE within you.

Everything I do with my clients is based upon the idea that within each of us there is wisdom that is guiding us to become who we are designed perfectly to BE.  Learning to tune in to that Inner Wisdom of the body/mind can help you discern what’s holding you back and blocking you, and choose what’s best for you going forward.

It’s about living intuitively.  It’s neither hocus-pocus, nor saved for the “special ones”.  Living intuitively IS in your design.  That applies to living your life in all respects, which is ultimately interrelated with your health and well-being.  Being your ideal healthy weight is no different.

Listen to Your Body - Heal from the Inside Out

Listen to Your Body: Heal From the Inside Out

Listen to Your Body

In my last post, I suggested that if you are having health issues, experiencing chronic pain, or are stressed, something is calling for your attention. We are going to dig a little deeper into how to “answer your call”: listen to your body.

Stress, pain, and health issues are a part of being human.  Therefore, we will continue to experience them to some degree as long as we are living, breathing human beings.

However, that doesn’t mean you have to let them rule your life. They can be a rich opportunity to engage intentionally, proactively, co-creatively to in creating your reality, which may reduce and/or eliminate them depending upon their root causes.  . And, if you can’t eliminate them, you can still approach them as an opportunity to learn, and grow.  You can listen to your body, and your inner wisdom.

Richer Life Because of the Crisis? Survive, or THRIVE …..

Most of us know at least one story of someone who dealt with a crisis, or a life-limiting illness, and who’s life became richer as a result.  They had a wake-up call.  Their perspective changed.  They saw themselves and their lives differently, and responded.

What if that was their fate to experience the crisis because they didn’t answer “their call” sooner?  What if it serves some bigger purpose? What if answering that “call”, is in essence, looking at the bigger picture in a deeper way by following the guidance built within you toward health and wellness, and a greater way of Being?

What if you were to tune in, listen to your body deeply, and respond NOW, averting the crisis, and enriching your life sooner rather than later?  Maybe you won’t avert it, but by tuning in you can at least weather the crisis with greater ease and peace.

Would you rather thrive now, or simply survive?

3 Steps to More Energy, Peace, and Joy

As humans, we can only change so much, so fast.  And, we are all built certain ways that seem intended to always be.  But what if you became the best version of yourself, with the least stress, and best health you can have?

  1. Tune into your body and ask yourself:

    • What do I notice in my body?
    • How does my body feel?
    • Where do I not feel well?
    • Do I feel open, closed, tight, loose, heavy, light etc.?
    • Do I feel balanced and equal from side to side?
  2. Pay attention to the areas in which you are experiencing discomfort, dis-ease, or imbalance.

    • What functions do they perform?
    • How are they used?
    • What common metaphors might be associated with their function?

listen to your body - your sore neckLet’s look at the example I mentioned in another previous post, the common problem of a stiff or sore neck.  Asking the questions above, you may answer the following ways:

  • Your neck holds your head up.
  • It turns your head so you can look around.
  • It allows you to bow your head in grace.
  • Your neck is a connection between your head and the rest of you, especially your heart (interesting factoid from embryology here: early on in development, your heart is “above” your brain, and they eventually switch; there remains a connection in the 3rd cervical spinal segment to your heart).

3. Look at the way you are currently meeting, experiencing, and/or living life, including the themes and the metaphors that apply.

For example:

  • How would you describe the way you are meeting/experiencing/living life? Struggling? With grace and ease? In between? Avoiding it? Facing it head-on?
  • What themes/issues are in your common stresses?
  • What metaphors might describe your situation in 1 & 2 above?
    • Having trouble keeping your head above water?
    • Having trouble holding your head up high?
    • Sticking your neck out?
    • Feeling challenged to look at and know what is around you, or change your perspective?
    • Always looking over your shoulder?
    • Are your head and your heart fighting each other?

Listen to Your Body – Connect the Dots

With practice, you will begin to notice the relationships between what is going on in your life, and what is going on in your body.  There are patterns between physical sensations, and issues, and what is going on in your life. Once you notice the patterns, you can make new choices for your life and health from an “informed” place of awareness to address your health, and your life.

Why is This Important?

Isn’t this a different perspective, which offers insight and real solutions?  Doesn’t it make sense to go deeper and discover the causes of your stress and pain?

Yes, you may benefit from changing your pillow, or getting a new recliner, having a massage, or taking pain relievers.  However, if you are still struggling with the same life issues, your neck is still taking the hit, and prone to succumbing because your body still instinctively works in the same way despite the symptomatic relief you are applying. Your body is programmed to survive, but not necessarily thrive.

You Can Intercept the Program…

When you are aware of what is happening within you, you can intercept the process and improve your quality of life.

Looking at what is going on inside your mind relative to what is going on in your life, and connecting that to what is going on in your body can give you clues to how you can adjust your perspective, thinking, beliefs, and approach.  Those adjustments and course-corrections can bring different results.  Then you are solving the problem with a “different mind than the one that created it”.

Change originates inside of you that way.   This is an inside-out approach to wellness.

Listen to your body and your inner wisdom. I have found with many clients just having the awareness of what they are really thinking, how that makes them feel, and the effect that has on their body opens the door for new ways of thinking, doing, and being.  It happens organically.  And, they are better for it.
